Amanda Emily Smith

Amanda Emily Smith is a poet, reiki practitioner, sex-positive activist, yoga practicer, community organizer, Mom, Queer woman and Black Creole daughter of New Orleans. She was raised in the Treme, the oldest Black community in the country, so her steps are rooted in the legacy of the Black community. She grew up in a family of Black women from her Mom, Grandma Ruth, Great Grandma (Granni) No, and Great Great Grandmother Mary which taught her the profound beauty and resilience of Black women. She devotes her time to Mothering, working as Community Coordinator at the LGBT Community Center of New Orleans, studying English and International Business, running sex-positive local groups including a poly meetup and NOYA, a group for young adult in the New Orleans kink community  as well as sharing performance and poetry on topics including Motherhood, Black womanhood and sacred sexuality.
